Betty Matthews
President

Betty Matthews serves as President  of the Miss Teen Princess Louisiana Program. She works closely with the Program’s Board of Directors to lead and manage all organizational operations including finance, administration, security and production. Betty Matthews brings more than 20 years of pageant management experience to her position. She joined the Miss Teen Princess Program in 1999 as an assistant to the judges chairman. Mrs. Matthews was promoted to the position of Teen Princess Louisiana President in 2006.

Prior to joining the Miss Teen Princess Louisiana Program, Mrs. Matthews served as executive Director of the Miss Red Bud Scholarship Program which was a preliminary to the Miss America Pageant. Mrs. Matthews worked at AEP/SWPCO - from 1966 and retired in 1998. From 1994 -1998 Mrs. Matthews served as a Vivian City Council Member and presently serves as Service Provider for WW Poll Commissioner. Mrs. Matthews' volunteer work consists of Northwest La. Scenic By-Way Committee, Historical Society of North Caddo-Officer, Vivian Chamber of Commerce-Treasurer, Vivian Chamber of Commerce-Pres. 6 years, Vivian Economic Development Corporation-Officer, Zoning Variance Board Chairperson, Certified Pageant Judge/Auditor (La/TX/AR)

Mrs. Matthews is a graduate of North Caddo High School, and has taken various computer classes, home study courses and pageant seminars. Mrs. Matthews is married to Fred Matthews and they have one daughter and one grandson.

Georgeine Robbins
Vice President

Georgeine, (affectionately called Ms Jean) Robbins is one of the most noted ladies in North Caddo Parish. She is or has been an officer in every civic and social club in the area. Not for social standing, but because of her dedication to the preservation of the history surrounding the area she calls home. Ms. Jean is a charter member of the Historical Society of North Caddo and has held all offices, but now considers herself "retired". She worked in the local schools as secretary and is no stranger to many students even today. Always there to give advice and counseling when needed.  She recognizes the value of further educational for all youth and applauds our efforts in providing scholarships to worthy young ladies. 
 

 

Kellie Morris

Treasurer

 

Kellie is a lifelong resident of Northwest Louisiana.  She is a native of Vivian, a graduate of North Caddo High School, and she and her husband State Representative James H. ‘Jim’ Morris make their home in Belcher where they raised their two daughters, Krispen and Kourtney.

 During her girl’s growing-up years she has been visible at their schools where she has served as classroom & office volunteer and PTA member.   She also served as North Caddo Magnet High School PTA’s Treasurer for the 2007-08 & 2008-09 school years.  She has been a very active volunteer for the Caddo-Pine Island Oil & Historical Society, the Oil City Gusher Days and Christmas on Caddo Fireworks Festival Committees in Oil City and the Louisiana Redbud Association Committee in Vivian.  She has also served as a member of the Boards of Directors of the Caddo Public Education Foundation and the Caddo Council on Aging and a Governing Board Member at the Louisiana State Exhibit Museum in Shreveport.  

 Having been an official ‘Pageant Mom’ through the years to her youngest daughter, Kourtney, she became very involved in pageants.  She has served as a pageant advisor, Mistress of Ceremonies and judge in the Ark-La-Tex area, and at the request of late State Representative, Roy ‘Hoppy’ Hopkins, she served as the North Caddo area’s Social Event Coordinator for the Miss USA Pageant delegates in 1997 and 1998.  She is the Director of the Missy & Miss Gusher, Young Miss Redbud, and Christmas on Caddo Beauty Pageants and also serves as Co-Director of the Miss Louisiana Redbud Pageant.   

             She is employed as the Tourist Information Representative and Events Coordinator at the Louisiana State Oil & Gas Museum in Oil City.

 

 

Shelli Briery

Judges Chairperson and Public Relations Coordinator

 

 

Shelli Briery joined the Teen Princess Louisiana Board this year to serve as the Judge’s coordinator and public relations coordinator. Shelli lives in Shreveport, Louisiana. She grew up in Vivian, Louisiana. Shelli is a graduate of Northwestern State University with a degree in Broadcast Journalism and Political Science.

Today, Shelli works and devotes most of her time to “news” shaping the ArkLaTex. She has worked for KTAL for eight years. As a Writer/producer, Reporter and most recently as the anchor of NBC 6 News Today. You can wake up with Shelli every weekday at 5am.

Shelli enjoyed competing in the Teen Louisiana and Miss Louisiana Systems  and continues to enjoy pageantry; serving as director and co-director of several pageants in Caddo Parish. She is thrilled to be a part of Teen Princess Louisiana.

When not working, Shelli enjoys spending time with family and friends. She is an active member of the Junior League and enjoys volunteering in the community. Shelli also enjoys reading , working out and watching good movies.

 

Kourtney Morris Tyson

Director of Public Relations

 

 Kourtney is no stranger to the pageant world, having competed most of her life.  The titles of City of Roses Teen Princess 2007 & Holiday in Dixie Teen Princess 2008 are just two of the many titles that she has held over the years.

    Through out her adolescent years she was very involved in youth leadership and community service and was honored to have been named the recipient of the Teen Princess Louisiana Community Service Award at the state pageant in June, 2008.  She is an alumnus of ‘Congressional Youth Leadership Council’ having attended state, national and global conferences, as well as the Presidential Inaugurations of George W. Bush in 2005 & Barack Obama in 2009, but one of her proudest accomplishments and honors was being selected as one of two young people from Louisiana to serve as an Official Page at the Republican National Convention in September of 2008.  As a result of her work & opportunities and in an effort to reward other young people she established the Keeping Adolescents Motivated Community Service -Youth Leadership Award in 2007.  To date she has presented this award to a number of deserving young leaders in schools and pageant recipients in her area.  She is also proud to sponsor the 2010 Junior Teen Princess Community Service Award.   

   She is a graduate of North Caddo Magnet High School and attends Bossier Parish Community College, where she is majoring in Business Administration.  She was previously employed as Assistant Manager at Lavender & Lace Formal Wear in Shreveport and is currently employed as an Administrative Assistant at Am-Tech Energy in Oil City.  She also works with and advises a number of young ladies in pageant instruction and preparation.    

    In her spare time she enjoys baking, entertaining, shooting pistols and spending time with her friends and family.  She is married to her best friend Sam and they reside in Oil City.

 

 

Jon Ferguson
Director of Operations

Jon Ferguson is the former Executive Director of the Miss Greater Baton Rouge Scholarship Pageant. He became a volunteer in the Miss America Program in 1985, and also served a the Miss Louisiana State Liaison for a umber of years. Jon was on the founding board of directors for the Miss Teen Louisiana America Pageant and served as producer for three years.

Jon is employed with Frontier Airlines and lives in Denver, Colorado. He is a Miss Louisiana Golden Patron and annually attends the Miss America Pageant. Jon is an avid believer in community service and founded the quality of life award for the Miss Teen Louisiana Pageant in 1994 which continued for the years of his service to the Teen Louisiana Pageant.

Shelly Price

Secretary/Ticket Sales

 

 

Shelly Price is a graduate of Northwestern State University and is employed as a Laboratory Scientist at the Overton Brooks VA Medical Center in Shreveport, Louisiana.  She has been involved in pageantry for many years, having competed in the Miss Louisiana Teen USA Pageant and having placed as a runner-up in the Junior Miss Pageant. Shelly has served as a volunteer and judge for numerous local pageants.

 

Her daughter, Rebecca, was a runner-up to Miss Louisiana’s Outstanding Teen, Mary Jane Hobgood.  Shelly enjoys reading and sewing in her spare time and loves designing and making evening gowns, dresses, and swim suits.  She is also active in community theater productions.  Shelly and her husband, Rick, live in Bossier City with their three very active children, two dogs, and one cat.

 

Mary Giecek

Mary V. Giecek  has been married for 51 years to Al Giecek and they have three grown children, seven grandchildren, and four great grandchildren.

 

Mary has served on the Miss Blanchard Poke Salad, Miss Shreveport and Miss Redbud Pageant  Committees. Currently she is serving as a volunteer with the Miss Teen Princess Louisiana Pageant.  She is a gifted seamstress and has made many trophy winning  pageant dresses.  Mary's pageant career began in the 1980's when her youngest daughter entered the Miss Redbud Teen Pageant.  Mary has served as chaperone for Miss Poke Salad for many years at the Miss Louisiana Pageant and has served as a pageant judge.  

 

As a retired teacher from the Caddo Parish School Board,  Mary is very involved with her grandchildren at the Oil City Elementary Magnet School. She is vice president of the PTA, selected Grandparent of the Year in 2008, Volunteer of the year in 2010, Caddo Volunteer of the Year and Louisiana Volunteer of the Year in 2010. 

 

Mary enjoys traveling with her husband in their motor home and spending time with her family. 

 

 

 

Rebecca Price

Production Assistant

Rebeeca Price is a Sophomore at Louisiana Tech University. She is a resident of Bossier City, Louisiana and graduated from Airline High School. Rebecca is a trained vocalist and dancer and has been the production assistant for the past two years and traveled to Orlando. Florida to help with the 1st annual Miss Princess America Pageant.
